We are hiring for a full-time New Matter Specialist at our Kansas City, Missouri location . We are looking for a talented individual who is a critical thinker, has a strong attention to detail, a passion for process and efficiency . The individual must possess a high quality level of customer service, professionalism, and interpersonal skills, as the role requires various interactions with management, attorneys, and other staff, in addition to firm clients, in the midst of a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
The most qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience of similar experience in a law firm or professional service s.
- Mastery of business English, legal terminology, spelling, and grammar.
- Strong aptitude for working with numbers.
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, accounting software, and preparing ad hoc reports. Any experience with Lean Six Sigma, Perfect Law, and Adobe is a plus.
- Must demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize heavy workloads with critical deadlines.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with attorneys, clients and other staff members. Must have an exemplary customer service mindset and interaction and proactive communication skills.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction, follow up on own initiative.
- Ability to research and resolve errors or discrepancies, effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to interpret c lient agreements.
- Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands
A typical day for this position will include entering new clients and new matters for existing clients in the accounting software system in accordance with firm policies and client agreements. It also involves analyzing information and documents provided by team members to accurately configure the accounting software system for client and matter billing.
