JOB SUMMARY
Work under the direction of litigation lawyers, assisting with all aspects of litigation, arbitration, and case management, with a particular focus on legal hold and e-discovery. This position will be involved in all aspects of litigation management as well as the day-to-day management and execution of the company’s legal hold and records management processes and systems.
JOB DUTIES
Work directly with lawyers within the Legal Department, to assist with all aspects of litigation and case management.
Assist lawyers with legal hold and e-discovery obligations.
Assist with administration of the Company’s legal hold and records management processes and systems.
Work with outside counsel to index, track, and control discovery documents, exhibits, and other materials for use during discovery and trial. Assist with case management and keep case files current and! organized.
Perform fact gathering and document gathering and preservation in connection with litigation matters.
Assist field personnel in handling small claims court cases in various jurisdictions.
Assist with other litigation-related tasks, such as responding to subpoenas.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree plus the completion of a paralegal certificate from an accredited program, or other relevant combination of education and experience, including commensurate technical education or experience.
At least 2 years of experience as a paralegal or business or technical analyst with responsibilities for supporting a corporate Legal Department or law firm.
Knowledge of general principles of law, especially in the area of litigation, and the aptitude and desire to deepen legal and technical knowledge.
Detail-oriented with analytical skills, but also the ability to think and communicate conceptually, identifyin! g potential issues and opportunities for process improvements.
Must have ability to take on substantive work with limited supervision and possess demonstrated ability to work independently on a variety of projects and tasks.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and execute on multiple cases and projects on a daily basis.
Understanding and previous use of a Windows-based computer system with proficiency in MS Word and Excel and ability to navigate on the Internet.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Experience with legal hold, early case assessment, and records management technologies.
Technical education or experience.
Experience in complex litigation, with knowledge of e-discovery.
