Claims Specialist - Property

Description: American National Property and Casualty is currently interviewing Claims Specialist - Property right now, this vacancy will be placed in Missouri. Detailed specification about this vacancy opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. 1. Assume responsibility for all Section 1 and some Section 2 type claims and management of field personnel. Assist with management of unit, workflow efficiency, distribution of claims and mentoring of staff.
2. Review facts of loss and determine details of coverage via the computer system.
3. Determine investigative needs to assess damages, cause of loss, coverage and proper reserves.
4. Review facts of loss and coverage details via computer system. Document computer log wi! th results of review and plan for handling.
5. Contac! t relevant parties (insureds, contractors, mortgage companies, etc.). Take recorded statement when required. Explain claims process and coverage. Begin investigation and identify NICB indicators, etc. Document computer log.
6. Determine inspection needs, including any salvage/subrogation potential, order police reports, fire reports, take witness statements, review field reports and photos, etc. Document computer log.
7. Compile information for decision making. Assess any follow-up investigative needs. Continually assess appropriate reserving. Determine scope of coverage and damages, and make decision. Document computer log.
8. Effectively communicate decision to insured. Document computer log.
- PLEASE NOTE: Depending upon the qualifications of applicants, another level may be substituted for this position.
Specific Training â€" Property claims experience required. Leadership training or experience preferred. MS Word, Outlook and Excel experience/proficiency preferred. Knowledge of estimating software.
Specific Knowledge - Advanced knowledge of policy forms, coverage, estimating software. Knowledge of contents evaluation and use of vendor services.
Specific Abilities - Ability to independently assess facts, and make decisions concerning coverage. Ability to work with insureds, claimants, attorneys and other professionals in an effective manner. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Ability to plan, prioritize and organize.
