CLAIM DIRECTOR reports ! to the VP of Risk Management and will be accountable to a variety of inward and outward senior people.You will be expeted to maintain and develop strong working relationship with various division / project personnel, safety directors, quality assurance directors, general counsel office, insurance carriers, attorneys (defense, plaintiff & coverage), experts, third-party claim administrators, brokers and various personnel within the client risk management department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for handling the day-to-day claims handling of liability (General Liability, Pollution Liability, Professional Liability) and Builders' Risk clams, working closely with all necessary interal / external parties in the resolution of claims.
Responsible for investigating, evaluating, strategizing, negotiating and settling claims.
Responsible for tendering to subcontractors and additional insured carriers in order to trigger the appropriate additiona! l insured defense and indemnification obligations.
Re! sponsible for quarterly / annual claim reporting.
Perform contract reviews as requested.
Responsible for conducting coverage analysis based upon facts of case and insurance policies implicated in order to advise Sr. Management and respond appropriately to carrier coverage positions.
Responsible for managing 2-3 direct reports, including hiring, performance planning / management, training, development.
Responsible for delivering Claims related training across Divisions / Operation Levels.
QUALIFICATIONS: 10 years of property & casualty claims experience (General Liability, Professional Liability, Pollution Liability, Builder's Risk and Property/Contractors Equipment), particularly with construction defect claims handling.
5-7 years of management / supervision experience.
General knowledge and understanding of Construction.
Bachelors Degree required; CPCU, ARM, CRIS and other certifications a plus. Stro! ng knowledgebase / experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, various claim / risk management applications.
Multi-state claims handling experience.
Familiar with various state laws / regulations / case laws / statutes affecting Claims.
Strong communication skills (written & verbal).
Ability to travel as necessary to mediations, on-site investigations, etc. (25%)
