JOB SUMMARY
Provide legal assistance in the Franchise Contract Center. Under the direction of a lawyer, provide highly detailed paralegal support for franchise contract transactions and contract management, including responding to cases of contract breach, termination, renewals and other legal matters. Position supports and works closely with associates in field management, franchise development and franchise support roles. Effective professional communication skills are required as this position works directly with franchisees on all types of franchise contract issues. As a senior paralegal, previous experience and judgment with an expected wide degree of creativity and latitude to plan and accomplish goals is also required.
JOB DUTIES
Communicate with all levels of other departments and respond to inquiries concerning franchisees and all r! elated franchise documents.
Provide paralegal support with! respect to various agreements.
Provide paralegal support for franchise acquisitions, transfers and other transactions, including drafting agreements and other preparing all other documents needed for closing. Assisting with closings, as needed and coordinate efforts engaging other departments within H&R Block as necessary.
Responsible for legal research and analysis.
Assist with department administrative functions as necessary.
Able to work in a team environment setting and also independently in order to accomplish challenging goals set for personal and group projects.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree plus completion of paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program, or other relevant combination of education and experience.
At least five years of experience as a paralegal
Knowledge of general principles of law
Proficient legal research skills
Detail-oriented with analytical skills
Must ! have the ability to take on substantive work with limited supervision and possess demonstrated ability to work independently on a variety of projects and tasks
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills (with an emphasis on writing skills).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Eight years of experience in a corporate legal department or law office management
Understanding and previous use of a Windows-based computer system
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Ability to navigate on the Internet
Ability to conduct computerized legal research, including Westlaw, CD-ROM and Internet.
