We are looking for a Linux Administrator & RPM Package Installer to help with a customer project through the end of the year and potentially beyond. This role will come with comprehensive benefits and PTO.
Job Description
We are seeking a RedHat RPM package installer and deployer to package one of our client’s existing software with third-party dependencies and deploy it on our client’s machines. The candidate will be responsible for using RPM macros to maintain packages, deploying software on clients' machines, creating scripts to verify RPM packages and their installation, and using RPM to perform other tasks such as updating database parameters and config files on target machines.
Responsibilities:
- Package our existing software with its 3rd party dependencies and deploy it on clients' machines.
- Use RPM macros to maintain packages and deploy software on clients' machines.
- Build/create the scripts needed to verify RPM packages and their installation.
- Use RPM to perform other tasks such as updating database parameters and other config files on target machines.
Must Have Experience
- Experience with Linux systems administration.
- Experience with shell scripting.
- Experience with RPM packaging.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience with version control such as Git.
- Experience with build systems tools such as make, cmake.
- A basic understanding of software development principles in at least one programming language.
- Experience with dependency management using tools such as YUM or DNF.
- Ability to debug and troubleshoot issues related to package building, dependencies, and software installation.
- Familiar with containerization technologies, such as Docker, is a big plus.
- Familiar with CI/CD, to automate building & testing & deployment.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members.
- Ability to document the work & teach other team members as needed.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $65.00 - $72.00 per hour
