Required Qualifications:
Applicants must also possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction); and have at least four (4) years post J.D. legal or relevant experience. Applicant must possess superior oral and written communication skills, as well as strong character and interpersonal skills; have demonstrated the capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment.
United States citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Outstanding academic record; exceptional research and writing ability; the ability to successfully represent the interest of the United States in the federal court; the ability to handle and successfully manage a heavy case load involving complex cases; five or more jury trials.

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $66,402 to $145,009 which includes 16.47% locality pay.

Evaluation Method: Once your complete application package is received, it will be reviewed to ensure you meet all job requirements. An attorney interview panel will then review all qualified applicants and make recommendations for invitation to interview. You will be notified if selected for an interview.

Summary
The U.S. Attorney's Office is responsible for the prosecution of federal crimes in the Eastern D istrict of Missouri, including crimes relating to terrorism, fraud, public corruption, firearms, narcotics, child exploitation and human trafficking. The office also defends the United States in civil cases and collects debts owed to the United States.
This position is located in the Thomas F. Eagleton courthouse in downtown St. Louis. St. Louis is the home to two professional sports teams. Forest Park is one of the largest inner city parks and is home to the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Science Center, and the History Museum. St. Louis is also home to three performing arts centers, with the Fabulous Fox, Peabody Opera House, and the Muny.
This district office has public transportation stops within two blocks and participates in the mass transit benefit program. This district is also easily accessible from four different highways with covered and uncovered parking within 3 blocks of the office.

These vacancies are are located in the Criminal Division. As a member of the Criminal Division assignments will include the investigation and prosecution of violent offenses, including car-jackings, robberies, felons in possession of firearms, drug trafficking conspiracies, and the use of a firearm in connection with drug trafficking or a violent offense.
