Responsible for determining the U.S. Federal, State and International tax consequences of past or proposed transactions, suggesting favorable methods of reporting and recommending actions to reduce the Company's overall tax burden. Responsible for quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and the preparation and filing of all tax returns and related reports while ensuring compliance with all ! federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations. Position is based at the corporate headquarters in Brentwood, Missouri and reports to the Vice President of Tax
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provision and deferred taxes, schedules and footnote disclosures required for SEC reporting as well as reporting in foreign jurisdictions. Maintain and update Statutory and Effective rate schedules. Update tax provision and rate models for all new acquisitions and transactions.
For U.S. Federal, State and Foreign jurisdictions, identify and assist with technical tax issues related to both stock and asset acquisitions, including coordination of tax due diligence, review and carryover of tax attributes, purchase accounting, opening balance sheet, deductibility of transaction costs, short period tax return issues, tax basis step up, and tax integration.
Research various international tax laws and! their implications for the Company, discuss complex internati! onal tax issues with outside tax advisors and attorneys, and assist in making decisions related to international tax structure and transactions.
Coordinate with an outside accounting firm to prepare all federal, state / local and foreign income tax returns, including generating and providing all data, resolving questions and issues, and reviewing draft and final tax returns. Calculate quarterly income tax payments for all filing jurisdictions, and prepare requests for payments.
Work with internal departments and outside providers to update and maintain transfer pricing studies, documentation, and agreements for intercompany transactions.
Build relationships with Post Management Team, including Finance, Accounting, M&A, Treasury, Payroll, Operations and Plant Management, for legacy Post business and acquired companies; build relationships with external providers engaged to provide Audit, Tax, Legal and Due Diligence services.
Update resear! ch and calculate personal use of corporate airplanes, domestic production activities deduction, section 162(m) limits, and enhanced deduction for food donations.
Calculate and maintain accruals for tax fees, franchise taxes, property taxes, and other indirect taxes.
Prepare and/or review certain indirect tax returns such as sales/use, B&O, and Commercial Activities taxes.
Provide fixed asset information to outside tax consultants for purposes of property tax reporting, review all property tax returns and assessments for fairness and opportunities to reduce tax liabilities.
Explore and make recommendations regarding tax savings opportunities, credits, and negotiated incentives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with coordinating workflows with other members of Post Tax Department.
Requirements
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret tax and accounting technical journals, financial r! eports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information! to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
