We have an immediate opening in our Kansas City or St. Louis office for a Business Development Manager .
The Business Development Manager will be a key member of the Firmâs Business Development & Marketing Team, who will work closely with the Real Estate, Development & Construction Strategic Business Unitâs (SBU) Director of Sales, SBU Leader and group Partners to develop and implement business development programs, plans and initiatives to achieve the groupâs stated objectives regarding revenue, profitability and market share.
The Business Development Manager must build a working knowledge of SBUâs services, attorneyâs expertise as well as an understanding of SBUâs revenue priorities, clients and prospects. The Business Development Manager will play a significant role in the execution of SBUâs goals and objectives.
Essential job functions include:
Serve as the primary writer and editor of SBU related ! written work product (proposals, pitches, collateral, internal! /external communications, etc.) to drive the groupâs business development and marketing efforts.
Engage in research and analysis and competitive intelligence-gathering for strategic planning, competitive firm positioning, and business development activities.
Serve as a primary point of contact for initiating, directing and providing business development and marketing support for all SBU attorneys.
Facilitate organizational/professional affiliations that drive business development.
Responsible for development and updating of marketing/promotional materials, attorney bios, web copy, and all client-facing communications from SBU and its attorneys.
Ensure contact mailing lists are current.
Conduct and manage consistent research of prospective targets, industries, markets and competitors to keep up to date on industry trends and proactively identify opportunities for growth and implement program to achieve desired growth.
Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of attorney experience and expertise, client mix, and industry/trade group activity.
Work closely with attorneys to initiate follow-up after pitches, client meetings, events, speaking engagements and seminars.
Monitor success of all opportunities to win work.
Provide support for seminars, sponsorships, and other events pursued by the SBU.
Track and analyze business development progress and results and provide regular reports to the Director of Sales, SBU Leader and Chief Business Development Officer.
Requirements:
Bachelorâs degree in business, marketing or communications. MBA or graduate level degree preferred.
10+ years of solid marketing, business development and managerial experience at progressing levels throughout career. Experience in a professional services firm or related organization preferred.
Exceptional written and oral communication skill! s.
Knowledge of the Real Estate, Development and Construction ! industries is an asset.
Excellent communications skills, strong business/political acumen plus creative flair and results orientated style are required.
Self-motivation.
Ability to research and analyze trends in practice/industry and new business opportunities; and ability to develop and execute marketing/business development strategic plans and programs using necessary marketing mix and business development tools.
Excellent problem solving capabilities and a track record of good decision making.
Strong project management abilities are a must, including setting priorities, planning, organization, follow-through, delegation and negotiation skills; and ability to build, manage and track budgets and analyze ROI.
Proven ability to work effectively under significant time constraints.
Some inter-office travel required.
