Position:
The Director of Human Resources guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire organization . The ir focus will include recruiting and staffing; organizational and space planning; performance management a nd improvement systems; organization development; employment and compliance to regulatory concerns; employee orientation, development, and training; policy development and documentation ; employee relations; compensation and benefits administration; employee safety, welfare, wellness and health; and employee services and co aching .

The Director of Human Resources originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-ori! ented, high performance culture that emphasizes creativity, collaboration, empowerment, quality, respect, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior staff.

The Human Resources Director coordinates implementation of services, policies; reports to the COO and attends leadership team meetings regularly ; and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues.

Responsibilities:
Organizational
§ Selects and supervises Human Resources consultants, attorneys, and training specialists, and coordinates company use of insurance brokers and related functions.
§ Develops and monitors Human Resources portion of annual budget
§ Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices
§ Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.
§ Manages the development and maintenance! of the Human Resources sections of both the Internet, particularly rec! ruiting, culture, and company information; and Intranet sites.

Training and Development
§ Defines Human Resources training programs ; provides necessary education to employees
§ Leads the implementation of the performance management system that includes professional development plans (PDPs)
§ Establishes an in-house employee training system including training needs assessment, new employee orientation , the measurement of training impact, and training transfer.
§ Establishes and leads the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures
§ Interviews candidates; serves as interviewer for position finalists and chairs any employee selection committees or meetings.

Employee Relations
§ Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives
§ Partners with leadership team to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs and laws.
§ Determines and recommends practices necessary to establish ! a positive employer-employee relationship and promote high employee morale and motivation.
§ I nvestigat e s employee complaints or concerns. Reviews appeals.
§ Monitors and advises supervisors in the organization’s progressive discipline system. Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
§ Reviews, guides, and approves management recommendations for termination.
§ Leads the implementation of company safety and health programs.

Compensation
§ Establishes the organizational wage and salary structure, pay policies, and oversees the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises.
§ Leads competitive market research to establish pay practices to recruit and retain superior staff.
§ Monitors all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment.
§ Leads participation in at least one salary survey every two years.

Benefits
§ Wi! th the assistance of the CFO, obtains cost effective, employee serving ! benefits .
§ Leads the development of benefit orientations and other benefit training.
§ Recommends changes in benefits offered, aimed at employee satisfaction .

Law
§ Leads organizational compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements . Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
§ Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with laws. Acts as primary contact to employment law attorney and outside government agencies.
§ Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.

Organization Development
§ Designs, directs, and manages a company-wide process of organization development
§ Manages employee communication and feedback through meetings, satisfaction surveys, newsletters, focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and Intranet use.
§ Directs a proce! ss of organizational planning that evaluates structure, job design, and personnel forecasting throughout the organization. Evaluates plans and changes to plans.
§ Identifies and monitors the organization’s culture to meet organizational goals.
§ Leads a process of organization development that plans, communicates, and integrates the results of strategic planning throughout the organization.
§ Keeps the COO and the leadership team informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of organizational goals and those that are not being addressed adequately at the management level.

The Human Resources Director assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the COO.

Requirements :
§ Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
§ Above average oral and written communication skills.
§ Ex! cellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
§ Demonstrated ability ! to serve as a successful participant on the leadership team that provides company leadership and direction.
§ Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping.
§ General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
§ Experience in the administration of benefits , compensation and other Human Resources programs.
§ Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
§ Excellent organizational skills.

Experience and Qualification Requirements :
§ Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organ! ization Development.
§ Ten plus years of progressive leadership ex! perience in Human Resources positions preferred .
§ Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
§ Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement, preferred.
§ Possess ongoing affiliations with leaders in successful companies and organizations that practice effective Human Resources Management.
