This employment counsel position is part of the Legal Group for Nestlé Purina PetCare Company located in St! . Louis, Missouri. It reports to the Vice President & General Counsel for Nestle Purina PetCare Company, located in St. Louis. The successful candidate should be able to provide sound and timely employment law advice in the U.S., to Nestlé Purina officers, managers, and other operating personnel for a pet care consumer products company with a U.S. and Canadian manufacturing base (20 factories) and over 7000 employees.Strategic supervision and direction of all employment law matters for the Nestle Purina PetCare business, and its affiliated companies in North America.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely and collaboratively with the HR Department in providing counseling and advice on all areas of employment law;
Identify areas for training and conduct/support training initiatives for HR
Manage and handle EEOC and other administrative charges and pre-litigation claims
Anticipate and address changes in employment law and work c! ollaboratively with the HR teams on actions needed to be taken! to ensure compliance
Support and work collaboratively on employment litigation matters
Provide counseling and advice to the HR Compliance team on topics including OFCCP requirements/audits and EEO compliance
Coordinate and collaborate with the employment law attorneys of other Nestlé companies in the U.S., as part of an overall employment law network.
Day-to-day activities include the daily and strategic employment law advice to Nesle Purina's Human Resources group, including but not limited to overseeing position statements, handling employment charges, OFCCP compliance, Family Medical Leave issues, ADAA, and specific employment law problems as they arise for the Nestle Purina PetCare North American business and its affiliated companies.
Manage external counsel in employment law matters and litigation. The successful candidate will need to work closely with PetCare's General Counsel and other members of the Legal Group, includ! ing but not limited to the other employment lawyers for the other Nestle US companies (e.g., NUSA, Nutrition).
Monitor and advise on new developments in employment law.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school. A license to practice law in the state of Missouri or an equivalent state so as to be able to obtain the Missouri in-house counsel license.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 6 years legal experience either with a law firm or other in-house counsel position with another company. Knowledge of U.S. employment laws and a strong business acumen is a must. Knowledge of Canadian employment law, a plus.
