THIS IS A 6 MONTH POSITION.
Essential Functions !
The purpose of the technology transfer trainee position is for the individual filling the role to acquire skills and experience in the commercial development of research discoveries. Under the supervision of business development staff, the trainee handles straightforward, uncomplicated agreements for both patented and unpatented IP and evaluates university technologies for commercial potential.
Primary duties and responsibilities include working with and assisting Technology Transfer Office staff in all activities required for transfer of technologies to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries, from initial invention disclosure to licensing.
Trainee will assist staff in:
- development and maintenance of external website
- database updating, maintenance and reporting
- initial meetings with inventors to discuss invention details
- interactions with patent attorneys and participation in! patent processing discussions
- market research to det! ermine marketing strategies and target companies for inventions
- development of non-confidential disclosures
- contacts and meetings with potential licensees
Advanced degree in the life science/biomedical/medical/engineering areas or equivalent work/education combined experience.
- No direct experience in a technology transfer office is required, but applicants must have an understanding of patenting, contracts, and licensing activities, either in a university or a private industry. Must be able to assess the potential for a nascent technology in the commercial arena.
- A self-starter with excellent communication and computer skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and manage the assigned case load.
- Some business experience in private industry or an individual with an MBA degree in his/her educational background is preferred. Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is $3,248.42 - $4,142.17 monthly.
