The Senior Legal Counsel is an individual contributor who works both independently and leads productive client discussions drafting complex client contracts. Each Senior Counse! l is assigned to one or more ¿books¿ of business, and services a broad range of internal and external clients. May coordinate the activities of other attorneys and team members on a specific matter or component of a large matter.
Negotiate and draft complex client contracts; may assume responsibility for development of entire contracting process. 60 %
Day to day legal counseling on miscellaneous business legal issues and participation in companywide task forces. 15 %
Assigns work to paralegals and supervises the quality of their work. 15 %
Creates and delivers training to lawyers and clients on legal issues. 10 %
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience
- Law degree and minimum of 5-8 years experience.
- PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Recognized and acknowledged as an expert in his/her field
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work cr! oss-functional to mediate and resolve complex issues and negot! iate solutions
- Ability to take initiative in developing business strategies with internal clients
- Seeks out opportunities to enhance corporate understanding of the value and role Legal can play
- Ability to manage timelines and balance multiple deadlines
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems and make decisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Able to balance legal risk with strategic business decisions to provide balanced advice and counsel
- Able to effect change with ESI leadership where necessary
