Monsanto Company, a global Fortune 500 company, located in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Trademark Attorney with 5+ years of experience in trademark prosecution and related intellectual property areas, ! including copyright and social media. The individual will play a key strategic role in counseling internal clients in all aspects of trademark and copyright law. Supervision and experience with IP portfolios, negotiating and drafting trademark licenses, and conducting IP due diligence on mergers and acquisitions teams will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities:
Trademark Adoption, and Copyright Protection
Responsible for searching and clearing trademarks worldwide, securing rights through use and registration, overcoming citations and oppositions, maintaining a nd policing registrations, initiating objections, infringement actions and oppositions to protect proprietary position. Responsible for company copyright policy and sourcing and protecting company copyrights.
Contracts and Licenses
Responsible for drafting and reviewing trademark and copyright licenses, assignments and other contracts involving Monsanto’s intellectual p! roperty rights, including trademark and copyright agreements w! hich are part of mergers and acquisitions, collaborations and joint ventures.
Trademark Policy
Responsible for advising the company on trademark and copyright policy, educating company personnel on respecting intellectual property rights and proper trademark usage, reviewing company publications for appropriate copyright and trademark notices.
The individual will be responsible for preparation and prosecution, obtaining and review of searches, providing registrability and infringement opinions and management of outside counsel. In addition, the individual will pay a key strategic role in counseling internal clients in all aspects of their trademark requirements.
Qualified candidates will have:
J.D. degree required.
5+ years of experience in trademark prosecution and other intellectual property areas, such as copyright, social media and related areas.
This individual will play a key strategic role in counseling! internal clients in all aspects of the Company’s trademark, copyright and social media portfolios.
Supervision and experience with larger IP portfolios and in negotiating and drafting trademark and other Intellectual property agreements and licenses will be highly regarded.
Must be team oriented, hardworking, service oriented, self-starter with excellent communication skills.
