All aspects (draft, review and negotiation) of all types of contracts dealing with engineering and other professional services, constr! uction, design-build, EPC and design.
Providing legal advice to various departments on a broad range of general business matters as they arise related to design and construction law, corporate, regulatory and business law.
Identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting key documents, presenting clear recommendations, and assuring legal compliance.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with internal clients and legal team.
Managing outside counsel when retained for litigation or specialty matters.
Developing and conducting internal training programs.
Participating in risk management functions.
Other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.
Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience:
Juris Doctor degree and current member of Missouri bar or ability to obtain Missouri bar license. Technical (engineering, architecture, construction science) undergraduate d! egree and/or AEC industry non-legal work experience, or prior ! in-house experience in the construction industry is preferable.
Position requires a minimum of 7 years combined legal experience practicing law at a firm, corporate legal department or equivalent government agency practice which would have involved hands-on contract negotiations and dispute resolution. Previous experience in construction and engineering design professional law, including design-build, EPC, equipment procurement and joint ventures is preferred.
This position is located in Kansas City, Missouri and relocation assistance is provided. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented. Strong work ethic. Professional attitude. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Demonstrated leadership skills and organization skills. Ability to work in teams. Law review or other journal writing activity is preferred. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of pertinent federal and state laws, regulations, rulings, interpretations and! court decisions as they affect the company. Travel required for this position is sporadic and generally is domestic, for less than one week at a time.
