The Risk Manager reports to the Process Leader for Quality, Safety and Risk. The Risk Manager promotes the protection of corporate assets from loss and supports the organization by analyzing and advising management on potential sources of loss, and means to mitigate or eliminate such loss. The Risk Manager coordinates insurance coverage and risk financing. This position administers the Risk Management Program on a day-to-day basis; conducting risk management education, ensuring compliance with risk management-related standards released by the Joint Commission, all with the primary objective of maintaining patient safety and enhancing quality care. This position oversees risk management assessments and studies, including statistical analysis trending of losses and analyzing patterns, enforcing a continual risk mitigation strategy of the organization. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Loss Prevention
Participate in the investigation and follow-up of potentially compensable events. Assist with comp! ilation and analysis of data for trend analysis of potentially compensable events. Participate in the establishment and maintenance of organization-wide efforts to reduce or minimize risks including proactive, periodic risk assessments
Risk Financing
Plan and implement the development of a comprehensive insurance program, including utilization of deductibles, reinsurance and corporate policy pertaining to risks. Represent the organization in all insurance endeavors and participate in contract review as it pertains to risk.
Claims and Litigation Management
Participate in reporting process to insurance carriers and manage, with carriers, all professional, general and product liability claims handling and legal defense activities. Liaison for organization with claimants, attorneys, insurance companies, and insured. Provide immediate intervention and documented investigation of all claims.
EDUCATION :
Bachelor of Science required, B! achelor of Science degree in Nursing preferred; Associate
in Risk M! anagement (ARM) certification required or JD preferred
LICENSURE :
Registered Nurse if applicable, Missouri Bar if applicable
EXPERIENCE :
At least two years Risk Management experience preferred.
