Midwest Employers Casualty Company (MECC) seeks a Claims Analyst or Senior Claims Analyst for our main office in Chesterfield, M! O. This position is responsible for managing high exposure Workers Compensation claims and developing relationships with the claim administration community.
Primary Responsibilities:
Accurately evaluate claims for potential exposure and adhere to established claim handling Best Practices
Coordinate claim evaluation, loss mitigation and settlement activities with MECC Medical Management Consultants and Claims Attorneys to minimize each claim’s total cost of risk.
Maintain an effective and current diary system on all assigned claims
Recommend, establish and modify case reserves within proper authority levels
Identify and promote claim settlement agreements, and obtain appropriate authority to settle claims
Plan and conduct visits to Third Party Administrators (TPAs) to promote loss mitigation and settlements on a portfolio of claims
Support growth and retention of business accounts through collaborati! on with Regional Team colleagues.
5%-10% travel is re! quired
Review and authorize reimbursements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's in general studies, liberal arts or business
Minimum of 3-5 years of primary Workers Compensation claim handling experience
Knowledge of industry accepted claim handling standards
Advanced influence management, business writing, verbal communication, time management, and customer service skills
Ability to prioritize, organize and meet deadlines
Ability to analyze issues and barriers, find solutions and implement actions to settle and reduce the total cost of risk on claims
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization and externally
Ability to learn and maintain skill levels in all company software programs including Excel, Word and Lotus Notes, etc.
