Senior Counsel (Employment Law Counsel) The candidate will report to the Vice President and General Counsel. Will work closely a! nd collaboratively with the HR Department in providing counseling and advice on all areas of employment law. Identify areas for training and conduct/support training initiatives for HR. Manage and handle EEOC and other administrative charges and pre-litigation claims. Anticipate and address changes in employment law and work collaboratively with the HR teams on actions needed to be taken to ensure compliance. Support and work collaboratively on employment litigation matters. Provide counseling and advice to the HR Compliance team on topics including OFCCP requirements/audits and EEO compliance. Coordinate and collaborate with the employment law attorneys of other affiliate companies in the US, as part of an overall employment law network. Day-to-day activities include: the daily and strategic employment law advice to company's Human Resources group, including overseeing position statements, handling employment charges, OFCCP compliance, Family Medical Leave issues, ADAA, an! d specific employment law problems as they arise for the North! American business and its affiliated companies. Manage external counsel in employment law matters and litigation. The successful candidate will need to work closely with company's General Counsel and other members of the Legal Group, including other employment lawyers for the other affiliate US companies (NUSA, Nutrition). Monitor and advise on new developments in employment law. Monitor and advise on new developments in employment law. Perform all other duties as assigned.
The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school. Should have a license to practice law in the state of Missouri or an equivalent state so as to be able to obtain the Missouri in-house counsel license. Must have 10+ years of legal experience either with a law firm or other in-house counsel position with another company. Knowledge of US employment laws and a strong business acumen is a must. Knowledge of Canadian employment law, a plus.
