Husch Blackwell LLP is a full service law firm with approximately 600 attorneys firmwide representing a wide variety of personal and professional backgrounds. We have an immediate opening for a Resource Assistant/Word Processor in our Kansas City office.The Resource Assistant will provide clerical assistance to the legal administrative assistants and timekeepers in the Firm. Works with the Team Leader to prioritize clerical/administrative work given by the legal administrative assistants and timekeepers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Act as a back-up to the receptionists: handle switchboard calls, visitors, deliveries, paging, etc. Communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally by phone and in person with clients, staff, timekeepers and visitors. Assist with transcribing tapes, drafting and revising documents, and typing projects. Handle copy and facsimile projects less than 10 pages (any projects that would not typically be delegated to the Office Services Staff). Retrieve record center files, package deliveries, library or accounting materials. Assist with coding files to be sent to the Records Center. Assist with entering and revising time entries and/or pre-bills. Assist with clerical projects such as large mailings, notebook or file organization, etc. Prioritize and coordinate projects for one or more legal administrative assistants or timekeepers, managing multiple, simultaneous tasks. Cope successfully with demands from legal administrative assistants or timekeepers, remaining calm under pressure. Complete deadline projects correctly and promptly. Conduct all business in a confidential manner. Demonstrate good spelling, proofreading and organizational skills. Operate office equipment including PCs, printers, phones, copiers, facsimiles, typewriters, etc. Log daily projects on a weekly report indicating tasks assigned, contact person, and duration of project. High School Diploma or GED 2-3 years relevant experience, preferably in a professional services environment Previous receptionist or similar telephone experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; specifically Word 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Excel 2012, Outlook 2010 Previous transcription experience preferred. Ability to deliver superior service to all internal and external customers and communicate effectively. Ability to interact in a professional and courteous manner with clients and employees at all times; professional appearance required. Ability to successfully perform position requirements with excellent organizational, time-management and prioritization skills required. Ability to work collaboratively within a team; ability and willingness to adapt to changing business demands.
